Going over a speed bump at 50kmph

8 posts in this topic

Hi,

Accidentally went over a speed bump at the checkpoint at around 50kmph. Went over the bump straight and alignment seems to be OK for now. Anything in particular that I need to check that could have been damaged like Bushings or rods?

Workshop checked and everything seems in place. But while going over a pothole, driver's side will have a loud clunk like a metal to metal knock. Could it be the Coil overs have been affected?

It could be coil spring unwound when unloaded. And the sound is the spring rubbing against the perch. Can be temporary solved with greasing on the perches.

Just to provide some closure on this topic, I had to replace a whole new lower control arm as the bushings were no longer being held tight due to damage to the circumference of the bushing enclosure.... Expensive lesson indeed...

Wow. Expensive indeed.

Wouldn't a change of bushing suffice?
